In Castle, Nathan Fillion takes on the role of a manic pixie dream boy. While Nathan Fillion’s character Richard Castle definitely knows he’s handsome he fits all the other criteria for being a manic pixie dream boy. Most of all Castle fits the description of a child at heart but a man when you need him. “His taste in media and hobbies might be immature and run toward the teenage, but it doesn’t extend to his emotions or interfere with him getting shit done.” One scene in particular is a perfect example of this, Castle and his daughter Alexis are playing laser tag in the house with high end gear. Castle gets a phone call from Beckett his partner and is able to switch from fun loving dad to murder mystery savant in the space of a phone call.
